Workshop: A Deep Dive into Alexander Technique and Performance Anxiety
Join Ingela of Courageous Artistry and a special guest, Darci Balkcom, for a workshop focusing on using Alexander Technique to help with performance anxiety. This will be an interactive workshop with a combination of learning and practice.

Ingela Onstad, MM, LMHC, BCC, holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and specializes in performance anxiety for musicians and other performing artists. She has completed thousands of hours of clinical experience with a variety of ages and issues and has presented on the topic of performance anxiety at institutions such as the University of New Mexico, Colby College, Fort Lewis College, New Mexico School for the Arts, Tulane University, Portland State University, University of Texas at El Paso, and Rio Grande NATS. Her coaching business, Courageous Artistry, aims to support performing artists in their quest to perform at the top of their abilities.
In addition, Ms. Onstad is a soprano who has enjoyed a varied international career in opera, concert work, and contemporary music. Operatic highlights include performances at Dresden’s Staatsoperette, Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein, and the Santa Fe Opera, and performances with the New Mexico Philharmonic, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie, Chicago Arts Orchestra, Opera Southwest, and the Santa Fe Symphony. Darci Balkcom is a singer, certified Alexander Technique teacher, and yoga instructor living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Specializing as an Alexander Technique teacher and psychosomatic educator Darci enjoys working with musicians. In her business, Body Tunes Studio, she maintains an active Alexander Technique and voice studio. She is on the faculty for Total Vocal Freedom, an online Alexander Technique program for singers. Darci has taught workshops on Alexander Technique at institutions across North/Central America and Europe. She participated in a four-year program with The Contemporary Alexander School where she became a certified Alexander Technique instructor. Darci is also certified by and enjoys being involved in Alexander Technique International.
Ms. Balkcom continues to enjoy performing as a mezzo soprano in opera and concert work. Recent career highlights include performing with the Boulder Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, University of New Mexico Opera, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and St. John’s Bach Project.
